Genesis 37:2, 14
Genesis 37:2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 37:14 And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:1~30
Genesis 38:1 And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:3 And she conceived, and bare a son; and he called his name Er. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:4 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she called his name Onan. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:5 And she yet again conceived, and bare a son; and called his name Shelah: and he was at Chezib, when she bare him. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:6 And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:7 And Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord slew him. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:8 And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:10 And the thing which he did displeased the Lord: wherefore he slew him also. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:11 Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father’s house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father’s house. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:12 And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah’s wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:13 And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:14 And she put her widow’s garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:15 When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:16 And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me? 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:17 And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it? 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:18 And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:19 And she arose, and went away, and laid by her vail from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:20 And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman’s hand: but he found her not. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:21 Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in this place. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:22 And he returned to Judah, and said, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:23 And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:24 And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:25 When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:26 And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:27 And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:28 And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first. 8 I MC VC
Genesis 38:29 And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 38:30 And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:1~38
Genesis 42:1 Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another? 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:3 And Joseph’s ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:4 But Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:5 And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth. 12 I MC VC
Genesis 42:7 And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:8 And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:9 And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:10 And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:11 We are all one man’s sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:12 And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:13 And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:14 And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies: 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:15 Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:16 Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:17 And he put them all together into ward three days. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:18 And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God: 16 I MC VC
Genesis 42:19 If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses: 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:20 But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:21 And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:22 And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:23 And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:24 And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:25 Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man’s money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:26 And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:27 And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack’s mouth. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:28 And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us? 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:29 And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying, 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:30 The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:31 And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies: 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:32 We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:33 And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone: 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:34 And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land. 8 I MC VC
Genesis 42:35 And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man’s bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:36 And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:37 And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 42:38 And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:1~33
Genesis 49:1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:9 Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens: 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel. 12 I MC VC
Genesis 49:17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:18 I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord. 18 I MC VC
Genesis 49:19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:20 Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall: 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him: 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:) 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb: 12 I MC VC
Genesis 49:26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:27 Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth. 10 I MC VC
Genesis 49:33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people. 10 I MC VC
